Man charged after deliberately attacking fisherman's boat with garden hoe in Adelaide

A man has been charged after he damaged and sunk another man’s boat with a garden hoe at a boat ramp in Port Adelaide.

The 61-year-old Ottoway man allegedly slashed Ahn Quoc Le's tyres at his Mansfield Park home about 1am, before heading to the Garden Island boat ramp, where it is believed he knew Mr Le would be fishing alone.

He allegedly threatened Mr Le, 41, with a machete, before repeatedly hitting his aluminium boat with a garden hoe, causing it to sink.

The 61-year-old man has been charged with unlawful threats, assault and three counts of property damage.

No-one was injured in the incident.

The alleged offender has been refused bail and will Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
