A Sydney man has been charged by police after allegedly sexually touching a young boy in a hotel swimming pool.

The 38-year-old man, from Belfield, is accused of touching the seven-year-old boy in the hotel pool at Pyrmont on Friday, NSW Police said.

The man and the boy did not know each other.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad arrested the man at the hotel yesterday evening.

He was charged with intentionally sexually touch child under 10 years and is due to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.
