During the altercation, the 21-year-old man allegedly was running from three males, aged 15, 26 and 31, when he attempted to flee over a balcony and onto an awning.

He did not make it and fell.

The man was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with rib and back injuries.

Police have charged a 31-year-old man in relation to the alleged assault.

All of the men are known to each other, police said.

Investigations are ongoing.
