Man arrested after graffiti found on vandalised NSW Police Memorial in Sydney

A man has been arrested in relation to Friday's vandalism of a memorial for fallen police officers in Sydney.

Police arrested the 30-year-old man in the Domain yesterday afternoon after calls from the public.

Further graffiti on the NSW Police Memorial was also found later last night.

The man resisted arrest and allegedly shattered a rear window in the police van by kicking it.

He's in hospital for possible medical conditions and is yet to be charged, police say.

It's understood the man may allegedly be responsible for both attacks.

The NSW Police crest and five panels bearing the names of dead officers on the monument were scratched in the initial attack on Friday.

“The damage is much more significant than first thought. A total of 28 panels were removed today,” Sydney City Local Area Commander Superintendent David Donohue said on Monday.
