A 22-year-old man has been arrested after an elderly man was bashed and robbed during a pre-dawn walk in Sydney’s south-west.

The 76-year-old was walking along Chester Hill Road in Bass Hill about 5.45am on Sunday when he was confronted by a man who allegedly pushed him into a fence and hit him in the face.

He fell to the ground and was beaten by his alleged attacker before stealing cash from his wallet and running off.
