The baby was rushed to hospital, but later died.

Mr Lindsey was arrested at a home in Sunshine North and is assisting police with their investigation.

Police have not revealed the nature of the baby's injuries.

Support is being provided to the boy's mother.

"She's, as you'd expect, devastated by what's occurred," Detective Senior Sergeant Shane O'Connell told reporters earlier this week.

"It's a very tragic set of circumstances and we're assisting her with the support that we can."
