Man arrested after alleged siege in Blue Mountains

A man has been arrested following an alleged siege incident in the Blue Mountains overnight.

About 8pm yesterday, police were called to Pine Avenue in Wentworth Falls.

It’s alleged a man who lives in the street entered a neighbour’s yard and tapped on a window of the house with the tip of a rifle.

By the time police arrived, it was believed the man had returned to his own residence.

Officers from Blue Mountains Local Area Command directed the man to come outside; it’s alleged he did not comply.

Police established a perimeter around the premises, and specialist officers were called in to assist.

Shortly after 1am, tactical officers entered the house and arrested a 56-year-old man without incident.

He has been taken to Katoomba Police Station, where he is assisting police with their inquiries.
