Two charged with manslaughter of boy who attended ‘slapping therapy’

A man and woman have been charged over the death of a diabetic six-year-old boy who had attended a ‘slapping therapy’ workshop in Sydney.

Geoff Fenton, 56, and Lily Fenton, 41, attended a self-healing conference at a facility on Park Road in Hurstville with the young boy between April 22 and 28, 2015.

Just before 10pm on the April 28, emergency services were called to a nearby hotel on Forest Road, Hurstville, following reports the boy had been found in an unconscious state.

Paramedics performed CPR on the boy at the scene but he could not be revived.

A crime scene was established and officers began an investigation.

The pair was arrested at a home in Upwey Street, Prospect, before being taken to Blacktown Police Station, where they were charged with manslaughter.

The woman was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court later today.

The man was also granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Penrith Local Court on May 12.
