The tragic stabbing death of a 62-year-old Sydney man has unsettled a neighbourhood and left an alleged murderer behind bars.

Police claim Keith Lee was murdered by his housemate, Charles Moyano.

It is alleged Mr Moyana stabbed Lee to death with a knife just before 7pm yesterday.

Officers attempted to revive Lee but his injuries were too severe.

Moyano, 32, was arrested only a few hundred meters away from Lee's body on The Horsley Drive.

It is understood he knocked on a neighbour’s door to ask for help.

The accused man has not applied for bail and is facing one charge of murder.

Becoming agitated during the hearing, his lawyer asked the magistrate to make sure Mr Moyana receives appropriate medication.

It is understood the house the pair was living in provides short-term accommodation.
