Police officer allegedly bitten on the arm during NSW arrest

Two men have been charged after a police officer was allegedly bitten on the arm while making an arrest in northern New South Wales.

At about 9.45am on Sunday, police attended a location on Forest Oak Crescent in Bogangar where they found a Toyota Hilux that had allegedly been stolen in Queensland hours earlier.

Police said officers were organising for the car to be towed when a 26-year-old man allegedly became aggressive.

Officers tried to arrest him, and he allegedly bit one on the arm.

A second man, aged 29, allegedly used a different car, a Ford Ranger, to drive towards the officer before leaving.

The 26-year-old was arrested with help from a member of the public.

Police searched the Hilux and found cable tie handcuffs, a loaded pistol, ammunition, and a two-way radio.

The 26-year-old man was charged with multiple offences, including assaulting police and possession of an unauthorised pistol.

He was refused bail and will appear in court on June 11.

A 29-year-old man was arrested in Denman Court, Cudgen, and also charged with multiple offences.

He will appear in court on June 11.

The police officer allegedly bitten was taken to hospital and has since been released.
