Irishman accused of one-punch attack on brother spends first night in jail

The Irish national accused of a one-punch attack on his brother in Sydney has spent his first night behind bars.

Barry Lyttle, 33, was charged over the attack on his 32-year-old brother after an alleged argument on Bayswater Road in Potts Point early yesterday morning.

His brother is in St Vincent's Hospital on life support following surgery.

Mr Lyttle did not apply for bail when he appeared via video link at Parramatta Local Court yesterday charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.

He will appear in Central Local Court tomorrow.

The brothers are believed to have been on holidays with their father, who said he was "in shock" at the event that ripped his family apart.
