Man 'abused' for sticking by jailed wife

A man who has stood by his wife after she was jailed for sending a pedophile explicit images of their daughters says he has been verbally abused because of his decision.

On Tuesday a royal commission hearing into the case of RG Dance, a now defunct Sydney company, heard from a husband and father who went to police with evidence that his wife was sending naked and semi-naked pictures of their two pre-teen daughters to Grant Davies.

Davies will be sentenced in May after pleading guilty last September to 47 counts of sex offences against children.

BZE, who is married to BZH, who pleaded guilty in 2014 to possessing and disseminating child abuse materials, said on Tuesday he was not "married to a bad woman, but I know she did bad things".

He told the commission that he and his children, two girls and two boys, had decided to stick with her.

"As a family we have decided to stick by her and I think that is in the best interests of my daughters who have been extremely distraught without their mother."

The commission has heard that from the time BZH and the girls joined RG Dance the family suffered - the boys hardly ever saw the girls and their mother.

BZH's and the girls' use of social media escalated to an alarming extent. They set up fan pages with open access.

Evidence has been given that Davies put pressure on BZH and the girls to send "sexy" pictures to him under the guise of interest in their dancing careers.

BZE told the commission he never realised the dangers of the internet until he found out what was going on.

He was angry and disappointed with his wife and raided computers and phones to download images and took them to police after Davies was charged.

BZE said he later spent hundred of hours deleting photos of Grant Davies with his daughters from their fan pages.

After his wife's involvement became known her "fan page got smashed" with messages.

She was attacked as a terrible mother and he was verbally abused in the messages because he chose to support his wife and family, he said.

The children had had counselling and the family was trying to stick together.

BZE said he felt parole and child protection authorities needed to take unique circumstances into account because right now he felt they seemed determined to ensure he and his wife never reunited.

The behaviour of his wife was totally inconsistent with the woman he knew before RG Dance came on the scene, he said.

The commission said the issue raised by BZE alleging authorities applied a one-size-fits-all approach to families impacted by child abuse would be examined at a later hearing.
