With time on his hands, Malcolm Turnbull has been cleaning up his Twitter account, culling thousands of those he follows to just a few dozen.

Media outlets have been slashed, so too politicians he's still interested in.

The good news is, he's still following Nine News political editor, Chris Uhlmann, and Nine News, along with CNN and respected American newspapers, The Washington Post, and The New York Times.

Loyal supporter, Craig Laundy, who was by his side on the day he was politically executed, appears to be the only Aussie pollie on his revamped list.

He's there with Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, and his Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe.

Wife Lucy's made the cut, so too his children and their spouses.

And he's still keeping an eye from New York, on long-time favoured political journalists, a list The Australian suggests shows the former PM leaning to the left.

It's clearly a work in progress and is likely to change by the day, issue, or comment.

This, just days after he was secretly recorded describing predecessors, Kevin Rudd, and Tony Abbott, as "embittered" and "miserable ghosts", saying while he wasn't about to become a Trappist monk, his days partisan politics are over.

He also vowed to be driven, not by hate.
