Malcolm Turnbull heckled while visiting Queensland pub on the campaign trail

Three angry protesters were sent packing from the Sandstone Point Hotel, in the marginal south-east Queensland seat of Longman, after heckling Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull as he dropped in for a beer.

Accompanied by his wife, Lucy, and local MP and assistant minister Wyatt Roy, the trio were visiting for their Politics in the Pub media campaign.

A group of protesters and union members were furious about proposed changes to Medicare and penalty rates, yelling “shame on you Malcolm, look after Australian workers first.”

Police ejected three people including a woman who yelled “do not touch me” as she was asked to leave.

The Prime Minister discussed company tax cuts and trade liberalisation at the media event.

The PM and his wife are in their second day of a two-day campaign swing of the Sunshine Coast. He will campaign alongside Liberal candidate for Fairfax Ted O’Brien today.

The marginal seat is held by controversial mining magnate Clive Palmer, who is retiring from politics.

Turnbull is due to announce $100,000 towards constructing a clubhouse for Maroochy River Rowing Club if his government is elected.
