Malaysia Airlines is offering customers full refunds if they want to change or cancel their flights, following the destruction of MH17 over Ukraine.

People who have already booked trips with the airline have until next Thursday, July 24, to cancel or change their flights.

Refunds will apply only to flights that will take off before January 1 next year.

The offer is open to all customers, with or without travel insurance, and even for non-refundable tickets.

Passengers wishing to change their itinerary can contact the nearest Malaysia Airlines ticketing office at 13 26 27 or contact the air service’s global call centre on 1300 883 000.

Meanwhile, on-site chaplains are available at the country’s major airports for counselling.

A Melbourne Airport spokeswoman said their chaplain had been speaking to “a lot of people.”

“Anybody who asks can take advantage of his services,” he said.

A Sydney Airport spokeswoman said their Salvation Army chaplain had been talking to a number of people due to board Malaysia Airlines flights.
