Major police operation causes partial closure of Frankston freeway

A police search believed to be related to a cold case has triggered a lane closure on the Frankston freeway.

Homicide squad detectives and SES crews are at the scene between Moorooduc Hwy and Frankston-Dandenong Road after closing a single north-bound lane about 4pm.

9NEWS understands police may be in the area after receiving a tip-off as to the location of a body linked to a cold case.

Officers have confirmed “an operation is underway,” but have declined to comment further.
