Szubanski's million-dollar weightloss battle

Jenny Craig has offered funny lady Magda Szubanski $1.25million is she can drop the pounds she's been putting on after already losing them five years ago.

Funny lady Magda Szubanski has been putting on the pounds again after having lost more than 30kgs in an ongoing struggle she thought she had already won.

Australia's much-loved comedian's weight has been steadily climbing up and her waist expanding — but now she's taking charge again.

"You have to hit rock bottom sometimes," Szubanski told A Current Affair.

Szubanski has always battled her weight but her sense of humour and powerful wit always masked the struggle.

Five years ago Suzbanski undertook a very public commitment to losing her weight, managing to get her weight down from 121kgs to 85kgs.

"Finally now it's time to chuck out the fat lady clothes," Szubanski told A Current Affair back in 2009.

"Or fatter lady clothes."

The weightloss was a health gain as Szubanski dropped her cholesterol levels and her issues with sleep apnoea improved dramatically.

“I think the fact that you've gotten to that state you know. That you've actually let yourself go that far,” she said. But a lapse in her dedication to fitness and dieting began to take its toll.

But once again, the woman who knows she is seen as the "funny fat girl" or the "rollie-poly comedian" is taking on the weightloss challenge.

"It's my Rocky moment," Szubanski said.
