Machete trio on the run after attempted arson in Melbourne
Three males armed with machetes are on the run after an attack on a tobacco store in Melbourne overnight.
Police were told the males doused the front and inside of the store with a liquid before trying to set it on fire, on Racecourse Road, Flemington, at about 11.20pm.
The fire didn't take and the group attacked two staff members before fleeing.

One of the staff members followed the group to a dark blue Holden Commodore station wagon and used an axe to damage the getaway vehicle as it was driving away in a northerly direction.
The police investigation is ongoing.
