Two face court over Queensland highway assault that left man with brain damage

Two men have admitted to bashing a Gold Coast man in a road rage attack that left him with severe brain injury, both facing court today over the sickening attack.

While Jonathan Lawrence and Jordan Baklas faced Brisbane District Court today, a third man who was also charged over the incident has had his charges dropped.

The horror road rage attack was carried out on the side of the M1 motorway in 2018.

It started after 29-year-old Brock Prime's Subaru and another vehicle almost collided before both continuing north towards Brisbane, with Mr Prime in the lead.

Both vehicles then weaved in and out of traffic in what's been described as a dangerous game of cat and mouse, before both pulled over for a confrontation at Yatala.

The physical incident saw up to 13 people become involved, but all took off.

He was subsequently rushed to hospital but now lives with a severe brain injury and partial paralysis.

Three years on from the attack, Lawrence pleaded guilty to the charge of grievous bodily harm, which has him facing up to 14 years of jail time.

His co-accused Baklas pleaded guilty to the downgraded charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.

A third man, Ryan Hallifax is walking free with the prosecution withdrawing charges.

Talking outside court, Mr Hallifax said he was "glad" to have the incident out of his life.

Lawrence and Baklas will be sentenced next week.
