The top Lotto hotspots across Australia have been revealed - but don't pack your bags to move just yet.

Tattslotto's Belinda McDougall said there was no guarantee a big win would be more likely in any location.

"Lotto is a random game of chance so no matter where you purchased your ticket, each number has an equal chance of being drawn," she said.

But for the superstitious, the numbers don't lie.

Across the country, the areas that had the most division one wins in 2014 were Cairns (Queensland), Campbelltown (NSW), Mount Gambier (South Australia), Hoppers Crossing (Victoria), Kalgoorlie (Western Australia), Darwin (Northern Territory) and Riverside (Tasmania).

Ms McDougall also said the most frequently-drawn numbers of 2014 were 48 and 1, with the biggest win a $70 million haul that took place on the Gold Coast close to the start of the year.

The ticket was purchased by a group of women who used the change left over from their lunch to take a successful stab at riches.

As for big celebrations following big wins, Ms McDougall said a lot of people eschewed big shopping sprees or champagne toasts in favour of more low-key pleasures.

One winner decided a chicken parmigiana would be the perfect way to usher in a new life of wealth.
