Petrol prices rising ahead of the long weekend, as double demerits kick in
The price of petrol is rising ahead of the long weekend, despite the fact it should be going down.
"It should be falling, and it should get to below a dollar," NRMA spokesperson Peter Khoury said today.
The average price across Sydney is currently $1.03 per litre.

Mr Khoury advised people to do their research before filling up, and reward service stations "doing the right thing".
Double demerits also kick off this weekend, running from Friday June 5 until Monday June 8.
The long weekend is the first opportunity people will have to travel within the state since coronavirus restrictions were eased.
From June 1 people are allowed to visit caravan parks, camping grounds, and national parks.
There are now no restrictions on where you can travel within NSW, so long as physical distancing and good hygiene is maintained.
