At-home Melbourne golf course inspired during lockdown bringing a community together

A new golf course has popped-up at Seabrook in Melbourne's south-west, a project inspired during COVID lockdown.

Stephen Hart said he needed something to occupy him last year, and thought something that could bring the local community together would be ideal.

"I don't have Tiger's talent and I can't hit a flop-shot like Phil," he said.

The Bald Eagle Resort houses the newest course dubbed, the Royal Sty.

It was built in the wharfie's front yard to overcome the pressures of lockdown and restrictions.

The Royal Sty is a fitting title given Mr Hart's nickname is 'Pig'.

"I needed a project and I just thought 'I know exactly what I'm going to do' ... I'll turn my yard into a golf course," he said.

But what he's also done is to create a greater sense of community, bringing neighbours together.

"It's a talking point, people walking past, they love it and you get to know a lot more of your neighbours," Mr Brodie said.

Stephen meticulously maintains his course, and of course, the club's 19th hole is always open.
