Gold Coast siege ends with man in custody

A siege on the Gold Coast has ended more than seven hours after a man barricaded himself inside his home.

A concerned relative called police about midday on Sunday to report the man was holed up inside his Palm Beach residence.

Police initially thought the man might have had a gun but didn't spot a weapon while they surrounded the home.

Police negotiators spent several hours outside the man's home before he was taken into custody after 7pm.

The situation forced Palm Beach Avenue into lockdown.

The man, who was the only person in the home, is being questioned by police.
