The LNP has referred a Brisbane City Councillor from its own party to Queensland's Crime and Corruption Commission over claims it says are "extremely grave".

Pullenvale ward councillor Kate Richards was referred to the CCC over allegations "too serious to ignore", the party said in a statement today.

The exact nature of the allegations is unknown.

Cr Richards was elected in 2016. The Pullenvale ward covers western suburbs including Kenmore, Brookfield and Moggill.

The statement said she would not be the LNP's candidate at next year's local government elections in March.
