Woman killed by falling tree branch in Sydney's south-west
A woman has died after she was struck by a falling tree branch in Sydney's south-west as the city was lashed by fierce winds.
The woman, believed to be aged in her 60s, was hit by the branch as she pushed a shopping trolley on Castlereagh Street in Liverpool about 1pm.
Paramedics treated her at the scene, but she could not be revived.

Residents on the street told 9News it was common for branches to snap off in high winds.
"I feel terrible, very terrible and scared, I have family here, you never know which kid could be walking around and then a thing like this happens," one local said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.

It comes on a day of high winds in Sydney, with gusts of up to 89km/h recorded in Sydney Harbour and turning ferry trips into stomach-churners.
The wind chill meant temperatures felt about 10 degrees colder than the official readings in the high teens along the NSW coast today.
The winds prompted hazardous surf and severe weather warnings along the coast from Kiama in the south to Forster in the north.
