Lightning has sparked several fires on Tasmania's west coast, although there is no threat to communities.

Tasmania's firefighting agencies said several fires were reported after the lightning strikes on Friday.

The main fires are around Surprise Creek south of Pieman Heads and near the Lyell Highway, between Queenstown and Strahan, but the agencies say neither poses a threat to communities.

Both fires are burning in largely inaccessible terrain.

Calm conditions and some overnight rain has stopped the spread of the bushfire near the Lyell Highway, a fire agencies statement said.

Saturday's milder weather conditions provide an opportunity for crews to secure the fire edge, the statement said.
