Leg severed in Sydney boating accident

A boat propeller has sliced through a woman's leg during a weekend outing in Sydney's south.

Police say the woman was in a runabout boat off Port Hacking on Saturday when she fell overboard about 3.30pm (AEDT) and the boat's propeller severed off a section of her leg.

Two girls who were in the boat were shaken but not physically injured.

The woman was airlifted to St George Hospital about 5pm (AEDT).
