'It happened so jolly quickly': Elderly man attacked in home invasion

An elderly man has been left with a broken foot after trying to stop a burglar from kicking in his front door.

Bill Anglesey, 86, was home alone inside his Leda property on Sunday night when he heard a noise and went to investigate.

He said he was standing behind his front door as a young couple smashed their way inside – a moment captured on Mr Anglesey’s home security cameras.

“It happened so jolly quickly and I just heard all this screaming and yelling,” he told 9NEWS.

“I just screamed out ‘look what you’ve done to my foot’, you know.”

The intruders didn’t stop to help Mr Anglesey, instead they stepped over him as he lay injured in the doorway and stole his house keys.

“I was more worried because there was blood everywhere. I was dragging it (my foot) all around the house,” he said.

He has several broken bones in his foot and may need surgery.

“That is very sad that the youth today are doing these sorts of things… It just makes me angry and sad that they do that in their spare time,” Mr Anglesey’s wife Nancy said.

Police are investigating and are looking for the man and woman, who were captured in the security vision.

The man is described as aged between 18 and 25, with dark skin, 160-180cm tall with short dark hair, and was wearing an aqua shirt, blue shorts and carrying a blue backpack.

The woman is described as the same age, between 150-170cm tall with black shoulder length hair, and was wearing a black top, black shorts and black sandals.
