Lawyer to fight charges she smuggled cocaine and meth into Sydney prison
A lawyer will fight accusations she smuggled meth and cocaine into a prison, admitting she did smuggle in tobacco and opioid medication.
Kristy Lee Howell was arrested at Parklea Correctional Centre in Sydney's western suburbs in July.
The 43-year-old formally pleaded guilty today to unlawfully bringing anything into a place of detention and supplying a prohibited drug.

Howell, a lawyer, has pleaded guilty to bringing tobacco and painkillers into Parklea prison but has not responded to accusations she was also caught smuggling cocaine and ice. AAP
Those charges relate to two grey balloons packing 106 grams of tobacco, and 32 strips of painkiller and opioid-addiction medication buprenorphine.
But Howell pleaded not guilty to two further drug supply charges, alleging she took part in supplying about 18g of methamphetamine and 3g of cocaine.
She is yet to enter a plea to a charge of unlawfully bringing anything into a place of detention that was added in Blacktown Local Court today.
Howell remains on bail, with conditions barring her from attending any prison or contacting the inmate she was visiting on the day of her arrest, and is due to return to court at the end of September.
