Labor 'very confident' in Wyatt Roy's seat

Labor remains "very confident" of claiming a major scalp in rising coalition star Wyatt Roy when vote-counting resumes in the federal election.

Mr Roy has refused to concede defeat despite suffering a swing of more than eight per cent against him in the electorate that was considered safe coalition territory.

He's claimed postal votes, which the electoral commission will count on Tuesday, could determine the outcome.

His Labor opponent, former teachers' aide Susan Lamb, says she was keen to declare an early victory after being told about 10pm on Saturday that the numbers were solid.

She took a swipe at her opponent for being out of touch and attributed the surprise upset to her party's grassroots campaign.

"For a long time he's been missing in action," Ms Lamb told ABC radio on Monday.

Ms Lamb said there were about 9000 postal votes to count and was confident, based on the trend in numbers so far, she would become the new member for Longman.
