Warren Snowdon looks set to retain his seat of Lingiari in the Northern Territory.

With 26 of 54 polling places counted in the sprawling bush seat just before midnight on Saturday, he had a swing towards Labor of 1.92 per cent, widening his margin of 0.9 per cent in 2013.

This puts him ahead of the Country Liberals' Tina MacFarlane, at 58.21 per cent to 41.79 per cent on a two-party preferred basis.

"For the first time ever we've won every booth in Alice Springs except Yirara," he told supporters.

"We have cleaned up in the CLP heartland."

Mr Snowdon has held the seat since was created in 2001, and before that was the member for the Northern Territory from 1987, bar a two-and-a-half year period from 1996-98.

Ms MacFarlane was unavailable to comment on Saturday night.
