Labor's new campaign: baby numbers

Have you ever wondered how many babies were born before you under Australia's Medicare system?

It wouldn't be surprising if your answer was no.

However, as part of a new Labor Party campaign, you can find out.

In the party's latest email, titled with author Don Rhodes' baby number - 3,474,965, Labor says 10 million babies have so far been born under the universal healthcare system.

"And I want this to continue," Rhodes writes.

"I'm proud to be a part of a country where everyone can access healthcare."

The email links to a website which allows you in input your date of birth and name before it spits out your number.

Although, it does also require your email address for the number, which is the website's "best estimate" using Australian Bureau of Statistics and Census data.

The email follows recent Labor anger at the federal government's wide-ranging, consultative review of Medicare.

Health Minister Sussan Ley says some medical services are outdated and must be reviewed.
