Labor's Danby not going anywhere

Federal Labor backbencher Michael Danby doesn't believe his party wants to ditch him, saying he is fiercely representing his Victorian seat of Melbourne Ports.

"I don't think that's true at all. People know me ... I've got a lot of support amongst the branch membership," he told Sky News on Sunday.

Mr Danby got into hot water with his party and leader Bill Shorten last week for using his taxpayer-funded electoral allowance to place ads in the Australian Jewish News, attacking an ABC journalist her for her anti-Israel bias - an allegation the broadcaster has rejected.
