Labor refers Speaker to federal police over helicopter expenses claim

Speaker Bronwyn Bishop's chartering of a helicopter is being referred to the Australian Federal Police.

Mrs Bishop has offered to pay back more than $5200, plus a 25 percent loading, claimed for a chartered helicopter flight between Melbourne and the Clifton Springs Golf Club on November 5 last year for a Liberal party fundraiser.

Labor frontbencher Tony Burke told reporters in Sydney on Friday that his caucus colleague Pat Conroy would refer the matter of allegedly signing a false declaration to the AFP.
