Labor promises $50m upgrade to Frankston Train Station

Polling day is still more than a fortnight away, but campaigning for the Victorian state election is in full swing on all fronts.

Today, Labor made moves to take back the crucial seat of Frankston in Melbourne's south-east, which was lost to Geoff Shaw in 2010.

Opposition leader, Daniel Andrews, promised a $50 million dollar upgrade to Frankston train station if he wins the election.

Labor also pledged $60 million to rebuild the Orygen Youth Mental Health Centre at Parkville.

Meanwhile, Premier Denis Napthine spent today in country Victoria, allocating $100 million to extend Warrnambool Hospital.

He has an uphill battle ahead of him, with the latest Fairfax/Ipsos poll putting the Coalition 12 points behind Labor on a two-party preferred basis.

Dr Napthine is still preferred premier though, but Mr Andrews is snapping at his heels just three percentage points behind.

The Victorian state election will be held on November 29 and voting is compulsory.
