Labor pledges coming to $58.6b: Hockey

Treasurer Joe Hockey says Labor's promises now total $58.6 billion and the opposition has failed to show how it will fund them.

Mr Hockey told parliament on Tuesday he's keeping a tab on the opposition's pledges ahead of the next election.

"They are now, as they get closer to an election, finding themselves in a policy cul-de-sac where they've made promises they can't deliver, pledges they can't afford and savings that are not deliverable," he said.
