Labor pledges $88m for Nepean Hospital

A federal Labor government would pour $88 million into health care in western Sydney, a pledge that comes ahead of the party's campaign launch in the region.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten on Sunday announced the funding to develop the Nepean Hospital, including a new cancer centre, more clinical centres and operating theatres.

The opposition says the hospital is "stretched to breaking point" and called on the NSW government to follow Labor's lead and stop making excuses to avoid funding the $4 million planning stage.
