Labor has second stab at censure

Labor is attempting to censure the prime minister for a second time in a day over "allowing" a minister to mislead the parliament and still remain on the front bench.

Shadow attorney-general Mark Dreyfus said Special Minister of State Mal Brough had repeatedly misled parliament in his statements about the procurement of former speaker Peter Slipper's diaries.

The government has moved to gag Mr Dreyfus and shut down debate.

The government gagged debate and voted down Labor's suspension motion using its majority.
