Labor accuse Brandis of misleading Senate

Labor senators have accused Attorney-General George Brandis of misleading parliament over what he knew about the Ashby-Slipper affair.

Senator Brandis told the Senate on Thursday he received an oral briefing from Justice Minister Michael Keenan after a search warrant was executed at the home of Special Minister of State Mal Brough.

Labor frontbenchers Doug Cameron and Jacinta Collins seized on the comment, saying it contradicted Senator Brandis' insistence that he had no knowledge of the Jaffair beyond what he learned in the media.

Senator Brandis said the execution of a search warrant on Mr Brough's home was "not the James Ashby affair, it is an investigation".
