Prosecutors to appeal Kristian White's sentence after great-grandmother's Taser death
The Director of Public Prosecutors will appeal former police officer Kristian White's sentence order over the manslaughter of Clare Nowland on the grounds a Community Correction Order is "manifestly inadequate".
Two of Nowland's eight children, Mick Nowland and Lesley Lloyd, have spoken exclusively to 9News saying they were "really disappointed" by the sentence, but news of the appeal has given the family hope.
"We've just got to get a sentence that matches the crime, all we want is justice," said Nowland's oldest son Mick Nowland.

The 95-year-old was wandering her Cooma nursing home, Yallambee Lodge, with a steak knife on 17 May in 2023, when Constable Kristian White was called to the scene and deployed his Taser.
She passed away from head injuries in Cooma Hospital a week later.
"At 95, we could accept our mum would die," Nowland's oldest daughter Lesley Lloyd said.
"Even though I believe she had quite a few years to go."But to go the way she has, it's just unacceptable, it's just something I'll never ever get over.
"It's just been a weight on me for the last two years."I just can't be myself, I don't think. It's just awful."

White, a 35-year-old father who was sacked from the NSW Police Force last year, will need to complete 425 hours of community service as part of his Supreme Court sentence for manslaughter.
"I don't believe he's been punished at all," said Lloyd. "He has taken a life... there should be some consequences for that."
A spokesperson for the ODPP telling 9News, "After careful consideration of the judgment, the Director has determined to file an appeal against the inadequacy of the sentence imposed in this matter."
Nowland had symptoms consistent with dementia, relied on a walking frame and weighed 47 kilos, but White claimed during his trial that she posed a "legitimate threat".
He negotiated with her for less than three minutes before saying "nah, bugger it" and deploying his Taser.

Nowland's children said she must have been terrified, and that she didn't pose a threat to anyone. Nine
"She was frail, she was hanging onto a walker, she must have been terrified," said Nowland.
"To say she was a threat - that really hurt me."
Lesley Lloyd, spoke about being called by the nursing home about an hour before Nowland was Tasered, but she was told everything was under control.
"I could have talked to Mum and said come on back to your room," she said.
She said never in her wildest imagination did she think it would end up like this.
