Koala stops traffic during Queensland highway stroll

A koala has been filmed bringing traffic to a halt on the Brisbane Valley Highway, west of Ipswich.

Footage posted by Mike Phipps yesterday shows the marsupial crouched in front of a black car stopped on the main road, with more vehicles queued up behind it.

The koala then hops and walks down the middle of the road, and moves into the other lane where traffic is also stopped.

People can be seen standing outside their vehicles watching the marsupial walk down the road.

A police officer can also be seen following the koala on foot.

"What do you do? Poor little guy," a man can be heard saying.

"He's going to have to find a bloody tree."
