Girl 'pulls knife' on classmate in schoolyard fight

A teenage girl has threatened a classmate with what appears to be a knife during a schoolyard fight on the NSW Central Coast. 

In disturbing video filmed on Friday and obtained by 9NEWS, two girls can be seen trading punches and verbal taunts as their classmates at Tumbi Umbi Campus look on.

At one point, one of the girls appears to draw the weapon and raise it to the 14-year-old's face.

A teacher intervenes and the girls are separated.

The girl who brandished the weapon walks away and slips it back into her schoolbag. 

NSW Education today said mandatory suspensions are issued to anyone who brings a weapon to school. 

"The department has a zero tolerance policy towards bullying, violence and harassment," a spokesman for the department said.

"All teachers, staff and students have the right to feel safe at school.

"This incident involved two students on Friday morning.

"A staff member intervened quickly and nobody was injured.

"Appropriate disciplinary action was taken immediately and police were contacted.

"The school is providing counselling and support to the other student."

The matter is now being investigated by police.
