Kieran Callaghan-Wight, James Watts jailed for four years over hit and run robbery

An Adelaide man has been praised for his "remarkable grace" after he forgave two thieves who left him seriously injured in a robbery and hit-run attack.

Jeph Ko was dragged more than 60 metres trapped underneath a van after his laptop was stolen by two men at suburban Norwood in 2016.

Kieran Callaghan-Wight, 27, was today jailed for four years, six months over the attack, while co-accused James Watts, 31, was handed a sentence of four years, four months.

District Court Judge Rauf Soulio said Mr Ko had forgiven both men for their actions, despite life-altering physical injuries and an ongoing emotional impact.

"All he asked of you was that you be lawful and do what is right for others and for those who care about you," he said.

"That is a remarkable expression of grace and a philosophical attitude towards what must have been terrifying events."

Judge Soulio said on the day of the attack, Watts had asked Ko for the time before stealing his laptop as he sat at a cafe.

Ko chased Watts to a waiting van, driven by Callaghan-Wight, and grabbed hold of the front bumper, before the pair drove off.

He was trapped under the van and dragged more than 60 metres, before he was dislodged and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries.

Judge Soulio said both men had expressed remorse over the attack, which they carried out in order to fund their drug addictions.

Taking into account time already served, Watts will be eligible for parole in March.
