Kids 'arrest Abbott' for climate crimes

Tony Abbott has been spectacularly arrested by children over his government's climate change policies at the G20 in Brisbane.

Not the real prime minister of course, but an impersonator as part of a protest on the sidelines of the summit of world leaders.

As the fake prime minister swaggered down the street bemused locals watch on. Two young boys suddenly ran out and overpowered his two minders.

The phony Tony was led in front of the waiting media pack.

"I'm not happy with Obama, what he said in that speech yesterday and all 217 friends of mine on Twitter are going to find out about it," he yelled.

"Not happy, not happy at all," he cried out as he was taken away.

Alpha Generation spokesman Ben Pennings hoped the stunt would highlight that urgent action was needed on climate change and reef protection, especially in light of US President Barack Obama's comments on climate change on Saturday.

The president used a speech to students in Brisbane to say no country was immune from the effects of climate change, and Australia and the rest of the world must act.

He warned natural wonders like the Great Barrier Reef were under threat.

Mr Pennings said the fake PM was arrested by children as a symbol of the crimes Mr Abbott was committing against future generations.

"Obama's been way ahead of Tony Abbott on climate change for a long time. They are moving forward talking to China. Abbott's moving backwards talking about direct action which is ineffective," he told reporters.
