Tradie rescued after slip leaves him dangling from third-floor balcony by his foot

Firefighters have rescued an elderly tradesman after he became trapped after falling from a third-floor balcony in the Melbourne suburb of Kensington this afternoon.

Emergency services crews were called to the Clifford Terrace complex at around 3.30pm.

It took around 15 minutes to free the 84-year-old man, who was performing maintenance at the complex at the time of the fall.

Rescue workers managed to secure him by a rope until he could be brought down safely.

A ladder platform was used to access the man and bring him to the ground, where he was treated by Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

He suffered a minor leg injury and was taken to Western Hospital in Footscray for further treatment.
