Singer Kelly Osbourne has come under fire after her attempts to call out Donald Trump’s racism backfired during a guest spot on television program The View.

Ms Osbourne appeared on the show during a segment to discuss the presidential hopeful’s poll numbers in the Hispanic community.

As co-host Rosie Perez produced figures which showed Mr Trump deep unpopularity among Latino voters, Ms Osbourne decided to speak up.

“If you kick out every Latino out of this country then who is going to be cleaning your toilet Donald Trump?” she said, to groans from her female co-hosts.

She seemed to immediately realise her mistake and tried to explain her point but Ms Perez, obviously offended, cut her off.

“Latino’s are not the only people doing that,” the host retorted.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg quickly tried to quell the argument before the segment cut to a commercial break.

Osbourne was reportedly inconsolable backstage.

She has since taken to her Facebook page to apologise for the incident.

Ms Perez also seems to have put the incident behind her, apologising to Osbourne on Twitter, bringing the focus of the argument back to Mr Trump.

The incident comes only months after Ms Osbourne, then a panellist on E!’s Fashion Police, turned on her co-host Giulana Rancic for her racist comments about actress Zendaya’s hairstyle.

“'I do not condone racism so as a rsult of this im seriously questioning staying on the show [sic],” she wrote on Twitter.

She ultimately quit the series.
