Roos, emu show true Aussie response to unexpected snow

The kangaroo and the emu were supposedly chosen for our coat of arms because they can't take a backwards step - but they'll sure make a move to get out of the snow.

Ballarat Wildlife Park snapped a short video showing a mob of kangaroos and a lone emu huddled together under a small shelter amid yesterday's cold weather.

"Brrr...winter has come early! It's snowing in Ballarat," read the caption.

After a warm start to May, the cold weather has swept across parts of Australia, with snow falling in New South Wales and Victoria.

But it seems nobody told the animals they had to grow their winter coats.
