'Rory McIlroo'? No ifs or putts

The locals at a Queensland golf course were treated to a bizarre display from a confused roo yesterday afternoon.

The kangaroo, one of many that wander about Noosa Golf Course, was entranced and baffled by a yellow golf flag flapping in the breeze.

Member Bettina Hammant shot a video of the encounter.

The footage shows the kangaroo sniffing the flagpole before trying to punch or catch the flag dancing above it.

Ms Hammant  said she had never seen a kangaroo behave so oddly.

"He hopped across the field to the flag and did his little dance," she said.

It is mating season for the kangaroos, and Ms Hammant said he was likely a young male, which could have influenced its odd behaviour.
