Jury discharged at terror trial of Sydney man Omarjan Azari

A Sydney man accused of preparing or planning for a terrorist act will face a new trial in November after the jury was discharged for legal reasons.

Omarjan Azari, 24, had pleaded not guilty in the NSW Supreme Court to preparing or planning a terrorist act during a phone call with a senior Islamic State (ISIS) recruiter in September 2014.

He was accused of being part of a plot to "terminate" at least five people a month and target a "random unbeliever".

The trial began last Monday but Justice Natalie Adams discharged the jury today for legal reasons.

She listed the new trial for November 20 and the case will be mentioned on May 10.
