Johnny Depp refuses to break character as Captain Jack Sparrow at Queensland kids hospital

He’s demonstrated he’s got a big heart by taking time out of his busy schedule to visit sick Queensland kids – but Johnny Depp has also once again shown off his acting chops by refusing to break out of his Captain Jack Sparrow.

Lady Cliento hospital’s own Juiced TV channel, made for and by the hospital’s young patients, has released teasing excerpts from their exclusive interview with the notorious seafarer during his recent shore leave on the oncology ward.

“I just couldn’t believe it, couldn’t believe it, just no way. No way in my wildest dreams,” the 13-year-old interviewer Ula Pryce-Davies told 9NEWS.

“He was just very lovely, and open, and just so awesome and amazing. I think that Captain Jack Sparrow has a lot of traits of Johnny Depp in him.”

She revealed he didn’t know ‘Shake It Off’ by Taylor Swift – and he’d rather “lick his toes, than pick his nose”.

The promo clip showed Depp immersed in character.

“Very difficult, being a pirate,” he said, before answering “I have no idea,” when asked where he was.

After staying for three hours, Depp then farewelled the youngsters.

“Thank you so much for having me, thank you for asking me questions, and threatening me, and trying to make me sing,” he said.
